SINGLE CAMERA THEORY

Due in 18th Jan.

Create an essay that explains the techniques employed in the creation of drama using single camera techniques. Your essay should provide relevant examples to illustrate your points

Your explanation should include the following:
·         An explanation of formats in dramatic story-telling eg. Serial, Single drama, soap-opera (this is largely to do with the writer’s perspective of story-telling)
·         Narrative Structures – realism, non-realism, linear or non-linear
·         Technical requirements – how lighting, sound, editing and directorial style are applied to story-telling in order to build a story or a scene (this is about the director’s input in story-telling)

(word count – 1500-2000)

You will need to refer to the work of specific film-makers and their films to illustrate your understanding. You may include links to short clips of their films if this helps you to illustrate your points. You may also include screengrabs of specific shots to illustrate your understanding.
